In October, 2003, Sister Charlotte Zalot was asked to guide the community through the chapel renovation project from start to finish by prioress Sister Christine Vladimiroff. Although still in the process of completing her doctorate in liturgical studies, Sister Charlotte accepted the challenge and later that month met with the prioress and council to name a task force to assist in the project. Members of the task force include:
Sister Charles Marie Holze, director of building and grounds for the community's properties
Sister Diane Cook, community treasurer
Sister Jean Wolbert, community liturgist
Sister Linda Romey, director of marketing for the National Catholic Reporter
Sister Marilyn Schauble, director of oblates and music instructor at Mercyhurst Preparatory School and the Neighborhood Art House
Sister Mary Philip Kiehlmeier, retired
The task force began meeting immediately to plan the processes that would guide the community through the necssary decision-making, to interview and hire a liturgical consultant, architects and artists, and as time progressed, to serve as the link between the community and the architects and engineers. Not a decision-making body, at each step of the way the task force made recommendations to the prioress and council based on solid research and investigation.
Since it's initial meeting in October 2003, the Chapel Project Task Force has had more than 60 formal meetings and many more informal meetings.
