Chapter 7 - Eleventh Step of Humility

The eleventh step of humility is that we speak gently and without laughter, seriously and with becoming modesty, briefly and reasonably, but without raising our voices, as it is written: “The wise are known by few words.” (RB 7:60-61)

Is my life a journey of seeking God?
Do my actions match my interior life?

The spiritual journey that Benedict describes is one of life-long growth into a willingness
to listen and be attentive rather than to dominate;
to receive and reverence rather than to control;
to live gently and respectfully on this earth.
