Essential Elements

Benedicta Riepp Program

Prayer

The individual will be immersed in the communal prayer life of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie.  The community, particularly members of the monastic formation team, companions the individual in details of daily personal prayer and lectio divina, Benedictine spirituality, and personal spiritual development.

Community

Benedictine monastics live in community.  The transforming movement from a life of centeredness in ones own needs and preferences to a life centered in the common good is shaped by the Rule of Benedict, and directed by the prioress of the community.

Because of the nature of this communal relationship an individual in the Benedicta Riepp Program is expected to remain celibate during her time with the community.

Ministry

During her time with us the individual will serve within one of the community ministries for thirty-two hours each week.  The choice of ministry will be based on the present needs of the community and the personal interests and gifts of the individual.

Spiritual Development and Study

The individual will engage in both personal and directed study of the  Benedictine tradition and spirituality.  In addition, she will be actively involved in the ongoing monastic formation program of the community.
