Easter Greeting: Joyfully Sing to Our God!

Easter Greeting: Joyfully Sing to Our God!

Throughout the season of Lent we sang a song titled: Revive us, O God by Jesse Manibusan. It was a plea asking God to once again breathe into us the way of wisdom and the depth of trust that only God can give. As I was preparing this Easter message I realized that I was still singing that same song which ends: “You are our hope. You are our light, O God.” That is Easter ─ an affirmation of the blessed hope of Resurrection and the unwavering light of God given through Jesus the Christ.

Easter celebrates the revelation of the mystery of faith: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Our hope is fulfilled and the joy unique to Easter is ours. It gives rise to the praise that Psalm 150 captures well and that Sister Mary David Callahan (1923 - 2005) set to music. The Benedictine Sisters sing it as an Easter gift to you. May it inflame in you the desire to join us in joyfully singing praise to our God for the Easter marvels that can indeed revive us and breathe new life into our very being.

May the blessings of Easter deepen your hope and bring the fullness of Christ’s light to your life!
