Joyfully Sing

The message of Easter is a message of new life. This new life is offered to all by God through Christ. Easter invites us to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a season of promises realized, of faith renewed, of rejoicing made real. New life surrounds us: birds sing, flowers bloom, trees bud. All of it makes resurrection a reality; all of it invites us to do the same. The spirit of resurrection increases our ability to burst with new life so that Easter joy will become real in our every word and action; so that Easter peace will find a home in our families, communities, churches, cities, and world.

Enjoy the Easter greeting we have prepared for you. It is a meditation on resurrection at its finest: simple and beautiful. God is everywhere—in every person, in everything; in each sign of goodness and grace, in each act of kindness and care. This is what gives us reason to joyfully sing songs of praise; this is what gives us reason to rejoice in the promise of new life—God’s resurrection gift to each and every one of us; this is what allows our God to be honored by all.

Sister Anne Wambach, Prioress, and the Benedictine Sisters of Erie

Sister Anne Wambach, OSB, the twenty-first prioress of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, Pennsylvania is a native of Philadelphia. She moved to Mount St. Benedict Monastery in 1992 to respond to a desire to experience the monastic way of life. Previously a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Chestnut Hill, Sister Anne began the formal transfer process to the Erie Benedictines in 1993 and made her monastic profession in 1997.

Sister Anne has served the people of the Diocese of Erie as a teacher at St. Gregory's School in North East, Pa., from 1992-1995, and at the Neighborhood Art House in Erie, beginning as program director in 1995 and as executive director since 2005. She served on the Monastic Council from 2006-2010.
