Sister Joan Chittister: HER Times Extraordinary Woman of the Month
Sister Joan Chittister, OSB, internationally known writer and lecturer and the executive director of Benetvision, a resource and research center for contemporary spirituality, was named a “HER Times Extraordinary Woman” for the month of July.
HER Times, a monthly supplement to the Sunday Erie-Times-News, created a website to honor women. As Editor Pam Parker explained, “Extraordinary Women are the fabric that holds our community together. . . . We [Editor and Erie Times Staff Members] will choose four women every month, and the nominees on our Extraordinary Women website will always be there to admire and to inspire.”
In addition, Pam expressed clearly what touched them about Sister Joan in these words: “Sister Joan Chittister has touched people throughout the world, and generations of Erie community residents remember her long before she became a national figure . . . . She has our admiration. Congratulations, Sister Joan!”
