CHAPTER 65 - The Subprioress/Prior of the Monastery

Too often in the past, the appointment of a subprioress/prior has been the source of serious contention in monasteries. RB 65:1

Benedict is realistic about human nature and its weaknesses. This chapter points to what can happen when the spirit of pride comes in. There is always a price to pay for anyone who elevates their personal gains above the common good.

For Benedict community is not the place were individual interests are primary or superior. A Benedictine community is a place where one grows in peace, prayer, charity, humility and reverence for all. The common bond is the seeking of God together.
