Sharing Love for Valentine's Day at Kids Cafe

Kids Cafe staff helped to spread love, delivering Valentine’s Day treats and cards to children in the after-school program. Stephanie Grear, Kids Cafe coordinator, along with Irvina Salter and Ebony King, who have been in regular contact with families since the pandemic caused the program to shut down in-person activities last March, hand delivered an assortment of candies and Valentine goodies, including coloring activity books, pencils, crayons, backpacks, snacks, and fruit.

With the help of donations from Mark and Debbie Woods, Pam Will, and Melanie Shufran and Ralph Edes, the staff was able to create gift bags and vases with a decorative touch. The children’s faces lit up upon receiving their treats. “One parent even reached out to Ebony to thank us and express her appreciation for this special delivery,” said Stephanie.

But, the real excitement came for families when they learned that the Kids Cafe will be able to re-open in March with safety precautions in place. Stephanie relayed the reaction of one grandmother upon learning the news, “A grandmother who has guardianship of her grandchildren exclaimed, ‘Thank you, Jesus! God is good!’ and began dancing for joy!”
