Silent Peace Walk

Description:

“Benedictines for Peace continues to encourage monthly Silent Peace Walks in response to the escalating tensions and divisiveness present in our country and our world,” said Sister Anne McCarthy, Benedictines for Peace Coordinator. During the pandemic, the Benedictine sisters have held Silent Peace walks near their monastery in solidarity with those who are also walking, wherever they may be. “We walk together in spirit,” Sister Anne added.

The next Silent Peace Walk for the Erie Benedictine community will be September 21, International Peace Day. The walk’s intention is to promote inner peace in an effort to overcome fear, division and hatred and to bring about peace and unity in our world.

This particular walk has a second intention: It takes place during Campaign Nonviolence Action Week and will be one of thousands of nonviolent actions around the country.

Campaign Nonviolence is a project of Pace e Bene Nonviolence Service and it takes place the week of September 19-27. The Pace e Bene website has many resources including online nonviolence training.

More information about the why and the how of a Silent Peace Walk is available in a downloadable PDF file here. Or, contact Benedictines for Peace, bfp@mtstbenedict.org.
