Liturgical Music

Handbells have been around since ancient times. Originally their relatively small size helped tower bell-ringers to practice; however, small groups soon formed to create music of their own.

There is a long history of using handbells to enhance liturgical celebrations. Precision and practice are needed for the handbell choir to act as one instrument. I’m always amazed by the coordinated effort that goes into playing each piece. Our choir has ten members and practices weekly. Lately, if you wander by the chapel during practice, you can hear them working on Christmas favorites. Just one more reason to look forward to a new liturgical year!

Until then, click here to link to a video with background music performed by our handbell choir. Enjoy!
