2017 Serra Club Picnic

Members from the communities of religious women in Erie were guests at a gathering in their honor. The annual picnic, sponsored by the Serra Club of Erie and hosted by Bill and Becky Hilbert, was held at Camp Notre Dame last weekend. A number of Benedictines were in attendance.

Erie Serra is an organization of Catholic women and men committed to growing in holiness and fostering vocations to the priesthood and religious life. The social, liturgy and picnic were an expression of gratitude to the women religious, especially during this Year of Consecrated Life. “Your impact on the quality of life in our community is immeasurable and we want to affirm you in your commitment and your generous service,” said Dave Wayman, Serra Club president, in his welcoming remarks.

A group of sisters, many of whom were Erie Benedictines, were happy to provide music at the liturgy. “This is always such a nice gathering,” said Sister Anne Wambach, prioress. “The sincere expressions of gratitude touch us deeply.”

Vocation Director, Sister Marilyn Schauble, added: “We so appreciate the efforts of the Serrans and their prayer for vocations to religious life and priesthood. Their efforts do bear fruit.”
