Annual Benetwood-Benedictine Dinner

The Benedictine Sisters of Erie had the pleasure of welcoming their neighbors from Benetwood Apartments for what has become an annual event: Evening Prayer and a special dinner ─ a simple celebration of friendship, faith, food and fun.

“The Rule of Benedict is clear: All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ,” said Sister Anne Wambach, prioress. “This event is an opportunity for us to show that welcome to our friends from Benetwood.” One guest remarked, “I feel blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful caring both at Benetwood and here at the monastery. I can’t think of any other place where I would want to live at this point in my life. It’s just special.”

Benetwood Apartments, a community ministry that offers monastic hospitality to low income, elderly, and handicapped persons, is located on property adjacent to the monastery.

The apartment building is a government subsidized non-profit facility administrated by Sister Patricia Hause, OSB. Her staff includes Sister Marla Bleil, Roberta Yetman and Wendy Wallace.
