August Community Days: Part I ─ Celebrating Jubilee

The August Community Days of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie are now a happy memory. It was a full week of learning, leisure and legislation (meetings) and we are still reveling in its many blessings. Over the next several days stories about the various events and experiences of the week will be shared right here on our web page. We will begin at the very beginning!

LLL Days opened with a special evening prayer at which Sister Phyllis Weaver renewed her monastic vows in celebration of 70 years of profession. Prioress, Sr. Anne Wambach, gave reflections. A festive community honoring all seven of this year’s jubilarians followed. During the dinner community members had the opportunity to share special stories, memories, experiences and expressions of gratitude to the jubilarians.

“It was a marvelous evening,” said Sister Phyllis. Sister Annette added, “This was so special. I thank the entire community for their outpouring of love and happiness for all of the jubilarians.” The community concurred that this group was having a real year of jubilee. Every day is a celebration that builds on the one preceding it. This particular day was truly memorable.
