Doris Cipolla, an oblate of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, was recognized in the February 2012 edition of the magazine: Lake Erie Lifestyle (LEL). In a recent Facebook poll initiated by LEL, Doris was identified as a person to be admired. She was lauded as a passionate advocate for peace and social justice.

Doris, also well known for her commitment to the environment, has shown great integrity in her ongoing concern regarding the contamination of water and air. She has persisted in speaking and writing about fracking and the Marcellus Shale. Her efforts are helping to make a difference.

We offer our congratulations to Doris, shown here (left) with Oblate Director, Sister Marilyn Schauble, OSB, for recognition well-deserved. She is truly a woman who exhibits “prophetic witness for peace by working for sustainability and justice” (Corporate Commitment of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie).
