Catholic Sisters honored by Erie's Mayor, County Executive and State Representatives

Catholic Sisters in the Diocese of Erie were honored by Mayor Joe Schember, County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper and State Representatives Pat Harkins and Bob Merski in celebration of Catholic Sisters Week.

Sister Anne Wambach, prioress, was on hand to receive the proclamations that were issued during the Mayor’s weekly news conference and reflected on the experience saying: “It was a privilege to accept such beautiful words of appreciation on behalf of the Erie Benedictines. Catholic Sisters have been serving in the city of Erie for 170 years and we are proud to be part of that legacy and hope to continue our service for many years to come.”

Leaders from both the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Sisters of Mercy were also on hand to personally accept the proclamations offered.

Sister Nancy Fisher, Director of the Diocese’s Office for Religious was present and shared her thoughts as well: “It’s been our privilege and honor to be a part of the Erie community. We have been blessed; we have gained as much as we have given. Thank you very much for honoring us and hopefully we’ll continue to work together in the future."
