Erie Benedictines align with LCWR in denouncing the American Government's Decision to Rescind TPS

The Benedictine Sisters of Erie stand with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) and the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) in denouncing the American government’s decision to rescind the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 57,000 Hondurans.

“As Benedictine Sisters and as women of faith, we take the Gospel call and our own corporate commitment to heart in our concern for these vulnerable people who face numerous challenges should they be forced to return to a country where violence and the oppression of human rights and dignity continues,” said Sister Anne Wambach, prioress.

The removal of TPS for Hondurans increases the number of people affected to 300,000 plus. As Christians and people of faith, we have a responsibility to human beings: aliens and exiles, refugees and migrants included. The right to conditions worthy of human life is not exclusive.
