Erie Gives Check Distribution

Erie Gives Day 2018 came to a successful conclusion with the presentation of checks to the participating nonprofit agencies, among them the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, Emmaus Ministries and the Neighborhood Art House. It was a happy and excited group that gathered recently at the Erie Zoo. Representatives of the various nonprofits had been invited to participate in a celebration of the campaign’s success and presentation of checks.

Erie Gives started in 2011 to celebrate the Erie Community Foundation’s 75th anniversary. The foundation does not receive any money. Instead, it provides the opportunity for nonprofit agencies to raise money for a range of causes.

This year’s online fundraising campaign raised a record $4, 471, 123 over 12 hours. The number of 2018 contributors totaled 7945. Sister Annette Marshall, Executive Director of the Inner-City Neighborhood Art House was on hand with staff member Sister Mary Ellen Cummings to receive the Erie Gives check: “We are so grateful to have been able to participate in this fundraising endeavor. We commend the Erie Community Foundation for starting and growing this amazing endeavor.” Emmaus Ministries and the Benedictine Sisters of Erie were also recipients of Erie Gives checks. “Our gratitude to all of the donors who so generously gave is overflowing,” said Sister Anne Wambach, prioress. “We can’t thank each and every one of them enough.”
