The Feast of Scholastica

This weekend we celebrate the feast of Scholastica on February 10. She is the twin sister of Benedict of Nursia who is the founder of monastic communities and the one to whom the Rule of Benedict is attributed.

From the little known of Scholastica it is clear that she was a strong woman who was deeply devoted to her religious life. She is celebrated by Benedictine women’s religious communities around the world as a woman who could “do more because she loved more” (Gregory the Great). She was a witness to the turth that love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails (1 Cor. 13:7-8).

We honor Scholastica and strive to carry on her legacy of living in love.
