Follow the Star with Tennessee Backporch

Once again the Benedictine Sisters were treated to the Tennessee Backporch dress rehearsal for their upcoming holiday concert: Follow the Star. “I can’t believe that Tennessee Backporch has been coming to the Mount for the past five years,” said Sister Anne Wambach, prioress. “Each year we enjoy it even more. It never gets old.”

Tennessee Backporch, Erie’s “premier variety band,” welcomes additional musicians for this special production. The show, created by Chris and Julie Moore, founding members of the band, showcases a number of original songs, many by Chris himself, as well as creative arrangements of familiar Christmas songs.

“Chris and Julie said how pleased they were to be able to perform here for us but the pleasure was surely ours,” shared Sister Anne who made a cameo appearance in the program playing her oboe as part of one of the songs. Sister Marilyn Schauble added, “It was simply amazing. This group is so talented and so willing to share their gifts. They work hard and well together and it was obvious that they enjoyed giving what we enjoyed receiving.

Follow the Star will begin its Christmas tour on Sunday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. at All Saints Church, 11264 Rt 97, Waterford, PA. Dates, times and places of the other four performances can be viewed through the online schedule. Tickets will be sold at the church offices ahead of time or at the door before the concerts.
