A Fourth of July Feast for Kids Cafe Families

With the help of Emmaus Soup Kitchen and Second Harvest Food Bank, families from the Kids Cafe will have a Fourth of July feast! This week, Kids Cafe coordinator, Stephanie Grear, along with staff member, Ebony King, packed and delivered boxes to the families of children who attend Sister Gus’s Kids Cafe.

The Kids Cafe remains closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so children who regularly participate in the summer program are at home with their families until the school year begins. But, Stephanie said, “We wanted to help our families enjoy the holiday. We gathered baked beans, fruit, popsicles, hot dogs, burgers, and toppings—everything families will need to celebrate with a picnic.” The soup kitchen provided pantry items for the boxes, and Second Harvest provided hot dogs. In addition, the Good360 distribution center in Erie donated candy as a finishing touch.

The faces of children lit up with joy upon receiving this special holiday treat.
