Lenten Vigil for Immigration Justice VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE

In light of the current situation with the COVID-19 virus, the Lenten Vigils for Immigration Justice will be held with a virtual prayer community.

Click here for the online audio file, a downloadable worship aid and printable prayer cards for the children who have died while in US detention.

Please join us in prayer this Friday, March 20, at 12:15 pm or at your convenience.

The web page will be updated weekly to make available the prayer vigil readings as they change for each remaining Lenten Vigil for Immigration Justice.

Advocacy to Further the Action:
Please call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected with your Senator.

Ask them to:
Support the Dream Act of 2019 (S. 874)
Co-sponsor the GRACE Act (S. 1088)

Sample script:
Hello, My name is (NAME) and I live in (CITY/ZIP CODE). As a person of faith, I want to express my strong support for:
1. The "Dream Act of 2019" (S. 874). The young people protected by this bill are our neighbors and friends. They are mothers and fathers of U.S. citizens. They are important members of our community and leaders in our parishes. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a program that has benefited over 800,000 young people by ensuring that recipients are able to live their lives free of the anxiety that they could be deported at any time to a country they do not know and separated from their families. I urge the Senator to support Senate Bill 874, the Dream Act of 2019.
2. And for the GRACE Act (S. 1088). The GRACE Act would restore the refugee resettlement program to the historic annual average of 95,000 and hold the administration accountable to operating the refugee resettlement program in good faith. My community welcomes refugees, and I urge you to reflect the best of our nation by cosponsoring the GRACE Act.
