Lenten Vigils for Immigration Justice

The Benedictine Sisters of Erie are part of coalition that is sponsoring Lenten Vigils for Immigration Justice. They will be held throughout Lent on Fridays from 12:15-12:45 pm at Perry Square and State Street in down town Erie. The first one is scheduled for Friday, February 28.

Sister Valerie Luckey, one of the organizers explained, “We will gather each Friday in Lent, to give witness and join our voices on behalf of all migrants: to help bring an end to the inhumane ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy and to protect the sacred humanity of all people.”

Co-sponsors include: Social Justice and Life Office, Diocese of Erie, Erie NETWORK Grassroots Advocates, Benedictines Sisters of Erie, Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern PA, Sisters of Mercy of the Americas NYPPAW, and students from Gannon and Mercyhurst Universities. Each group will lead a different Friday from February 28 through April 3.
