Look who followed the star to Mount St. Benedict Monastery

What better day than Epiphany to extend welcome to a group of students from Canisius College who traveled from Buffalo to spend their Winter Break at the Mount. The “star” that led them was the desire to engage in this special ministry and service endeavor.

After the group had a tour of the monastery with Sister Jean Wolbert, Hospitality Director and enjoyed their first meal with the community, they were ready to embark on an outside tour of the monastery grounds with Sisters Susan Doubet and Anne Wambach. Before doing so, the group of 10 students and their two graduate student leaders posed with Sister Marilyn Schauble, Vocation Director and organizer of the week, who said: “We are pleased and excited to welcome this college group into our home and hearts.”

The week will include prayer and meals with the community, involvement in several Benedictine ministries, both at the monastery and in inner-city Erie, and input on topics including lectio divina, Liturgy of the Hours, monastic values and social justice awareness. There will also be a game night with the community and a special blessing from the prioress and community before they make their return journey to school.

Let the experience begin!
