Monthly Silent Peace Walk: Thursday, September 21

In response to the escalating tensions and divisiveness present in our country and our world, Benedictines for Peace initiated a new monthly initiative, a Silent Peace Walk. The second monthly Silent Walk for Peace is Thursday, September 21 from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. It will begin and end at the East Avenue Boat Launch, at the foot of East Avenue. We will move silently in single-file past the Erie COKE plant.

The site was chosen to connect with the “Season of Creation” which Christian churches around the globe celebrate between September 1 and October 4, praying and acting for creation. We will gather at the water’s edge, walk on the earth and breathe the air, our prayer for inner peace will be a foundation for constructive action in concert with the earth.

About the Silent Peace Walk: “The silent peace walk is primarily a way to promote inner peace because that is the foundation for constructive action for justice and peace,” explained Sister Ann Muczynski, a member of Benedictines for Peace and an organizer for the walk.

Piero Falci began the Silent Peace Walks in 2006 in Coral Springs, FL and they have spread around the globe.
