New Program at St. Benedict Community Center: Indoor Wheelchair Basketball

“Indoor wheelchair basketball got off to a great start,” said Sister Dianne Sabol, director of St. Benedict Community Center. “It was a night I will remember for a long time to come.”

The first indoor wheelchair basketball game was held on Thursday, February 21, from 6 to 7 pm. Wheelchair basketball is played by people with different levels of physical challenges that prevent running, jumping and pivoting. The indoor wheelchair basketball now available at St. Benedict Community Center promotes healthy competition, constructive time use, positive social interactions and valuable life skills.

This new initiative will continue on Thursday evenings from February 28 through April 11 at the center which is located at 320 East Tenth Street. For more information contact Sister Dianne by calling (814) 459-2406. Click here to download a printable flyer.

Sister Dianne added: “Recreation is essential for everyone. My hope is that this program will grow to include a variety of adaptive sports and games....so stay tuned!”
