Novices moving forward

Sisters Dina Lauricella and Karen Oprenchok are moving forward into the third stage of initial monastic formation: the Scholasticate. Each stage of initial formation is accompanied by continued vocation discernment. Their discernment led Sisters Dina and Karen to request first monastic profession and continue their journey of seeking God in community with the Benedictine Sisters of Erie. With the blessing of their Novice Director, Sister Stephanie Schmidt, the prioress, council and community, Sisters Dina and Karen will profess their vows in June and continue in the initial monastic formation program under the guidance of the Scholastic Director, Sister Diane Rabe. During this next period of formation they will be engaged in full time ministry while maintaining participation in the life and prayer of the community.

“We are so pleased to welcome and uphold Dina and Karen as they prepare to move into the Scholasticate as professed monastics,” said Sister Anne Wambach, prioress. “We are stronger because of their presence and commitment.”
