Oblate Commitment Ceremony 2011

Erie Benedictine Oblate Commitment 2011

On Saturday, October 29, the Oblate Commitment Ceremony was celebrated at Mount Saint Benedict Monastery. More than 260 women and men renewed their commitment to the Erie Benedictines as Oblates, with over 100 able to be present. During the ceremony, which took place within the context of the community’s Evening Prayer, 18 new oblates made their initial commitment. The sisters blessed and welcomed all of the Oblates into a relationship of mutual support and invited them to be a strong voice calling for the transformation of the world.

The Oblates are people from across the United States, Canada and abroad with one common goal: to seek God through a life based on the Rule of Benedict. Sister Marilyn Schauble, Oblate Director, comments: “The Oblates of Mount Saint Benedict are truly amazing people. Their witness to the Way of life that Benedict sets forth is edifying, exciting and challenging. They seek God in their lives and give witness to their co-workers, neighbors, family and friends. Because of who they are and how they live Benedictine values the world is a better place.”
