Sister Pat Hause receives the GSWA 2017 Social Worker of the Year Award

“When you are recognized as being good at something you love it is very humbling,” said Sister Pat Hause when named Social Worker of the Year by the Geriatric Social Workers Association (GSWA). Sister Pat, the administrator of Benetwood Apartments, a government subsidized non-profit facility administered by the community that provides monastic hospitality to low income, elderly, and handicapped persons, was nominated and chosen by her peers.

GSWA is an organization that was formed to foster and enhance professionalism among the nursing home and geriatric health related social workers, case managers and professionals. “Being part of this organization has provided me with support and helped me to be better at work I love doing,” explained Sister Pat. “I will look at this award and feel honored, of course, but mostly I will look at it and see all of the people that I have worked with and all the people that are served through the work that my staff and I do at Benetwood Apartments.”

Sister Anne Wambach, prioress, was invited to be present at the award ceremony as a surprise for Sister Pat. She, along with Pat’s two brothers, listened in on the presentation. “It was special to see Pat’s amazement when her name was called for the award,” said Sister Anne. “It is well deserved and we are pleased that Pat has received this recognition for the work that she does so well in her ministry at Benetwood Apartments.”
