The tradition continues—another beautiful concert

“The North East Choral Club (NECC) is a wonderful group of women and being part of this group has allowed me to do what I love—sing,” said Sister Marilyn Schauble after the annual NECC Christmas concert. Sister Marilyn has been a member of the group for the past 10 years.

Under the direction of Nancy Bowers, the women performed both sacred and secular music. The theme, “Simplest of Gifts” told the Nativity story through music and scripture and this was followed by a selection of secular songs that added to the Christmas spirit. A number of sisters and oblates joined the crowd that filled Park United Methodist Church where two free performances of the program were held. In keeping with their commitment to the North East community the group accepted free will offerings to benefit Community Christmas Boxes, sponsored by the North East Council of Churches, for local families in need.

“Beautiful music touches the heart and revives the spirit,” remarked Sister Anne Wambach. “This concert is a wonderful opportunity to prepare for the season of Christmas and, as always, it was very enjoyable. I enjoyed it so much I even came back for the second performance!”
